Replacing your quick links

Hot waxing your chain requires you to take the chain off every time you wax. Most chain manufacturers state that the quick links are single-use. This is the safest option for sure. However, not everyone replaces their quick link every time. If you do reuse it, here’s how to keep it safe: If it doesn't provide you with that snappy click when closed, it should be replaced. For a major event, like a race or Gran Fondo, always use a new quick link. Do not reuse a quick link more than five times. The Connex quick links are an exception. Since they don’t rely on a click but rather on a unique angle to close them, you can use them over and over. In fact, they have the same lifespan as your chain.
